Sam Roth from "Shiver" is a werewolf, unique, and musical. When Sam was little, the werewolves were looking for new wolves to add to the pack and spotted Sam. They thought he was perfect so they bit him, forcing him into the new life of a werewolf. Now he must live through cold winters as a huge gray wolf ony able to watch Grace from a distance. A part in the book which describes Sam's pain when changing into a werwolf and forgetting his human life is:“Grace. I held on to that name. If I kept that in my head, I would be OK. Grace. I was shaking, shaking; my skin peeling away. Grace. My bones squeezed, pinched, pressed against my muscles. Grace. Her eyes held me even after I stopped feeling her fingers gripping my arms. Sam," she said. "Don't go.” . The only thing that stays the same when Sam changes in to a wolf are his eyes. His uncommon yellow eyes are part of what makes Sam so unique. He is unique in many ways ; he has beautiful yellow eyes, he is a werewolf, compared to the other wolves he didnt get many years as a human, etc. But his eyes were especially special: “his yellow eyes gazed at me possessively", Grace said in the book. She could pick out" her wolf" just by looking at those eyes. Sam is also musical. He plays guitar and sings. He is always thinking of lyrics in his head during special moments that he wants to remember and he loves reading poetry. He wrote and sang this song about Grace called summer girl:

Sam's character has shown nontypical signs of a young teenaged boy. Due to the fact that he is a werewolf, his existence is quite unique just as he is. Even though he may have different concerns and issues then your regular teenager, music plays a huge role in shaping who Sam is. Sam has the physique of a werewolf but is a quite well-rounded boy chooses to be unique in his choices, person and this definitely shines through in his music.
